How Chime MyPay works
- Open a Chime Checking Account (held at The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A.), activate your physical Chime debit card and set up direct deposit.
- MyPay unlocks after qualifying direct deposits: generally 2 deposits of $200 or more from an employer, payroll provider or gig payer within the preceding 36 days, and you must live in one of 38 eligible states or DC.
- Chime shows a credit limit in the app based on your direct deposit history, account activity and risk-based criteria: most members start at $40 to $100 and can rise to $500 (offers range $20 to $1,000 per pay period); you cannot request an increase.
- Take an advance (minimum $20) free within 24 hours, or instantly for 3% ($2 minimum, $5 maximum); no interest, no credit check and no optional tipping.
- Repayment is taken automatically from your next qualifying direct deposit into Chime Checking by the Estimated Pay Date (fees first, then the advance; up to 4 automatic debits per transaction), or you can repay early in the app.
- If no qualifying deposit covers the balance by the Estimated Pay Date you are in default: no late fee, collections or credit reporting, but MyPay can be suspended or closed and your limit lowered.
Who can use it?
